We believe the teachings of yoga can bring enduring happiness to those who practice them.
By offering a variety of courses raging from physical yoga asana to seated meditations and mindfulness to comprehensive studies of the teachings to the Buddha we aim to brings these ancient teachings in an appreciable format for anyone who is drawn to the path of yoga.
Our physical asana programs approach movement in a mindful way. Fluid Yoga classes dynamically link the flowing nature of breath with mindful, continual movement.
This heat-building flow not only increases strength and flexibility, but trains the mind to be more content and relaxed throughout difficult challenges on and off the mat. Fluid yogis embrace qualities embodied by the universal elements to become grounded and balanced, like the earth; graceful, like water; strong and pure, like fire; connected to their breath and mind with the clarity of air; and relaxed and rejuvenated with each journey into the spaciousness of savasana.
Our Mindfulness programs are great for busy individuals looks to learn at their own pace in the comfort of their own homes. A completely online program where new course material is delivered in a weekly email over an 8 week period. Access to the program lasts for a year so take all the time you need and learn at your own speed.
Triyana is intended to provide the support of the three jewels to the study of the Three Turnings of The Wheel of Dharma. These ancient teachings of the Buddha are presented in commentary and discussion during the two annual retreats by Kevan Gale through weekly supportive materials and a weekly online teaching.
Our Guiding Principles
These are the four principles that inform how we design learning experiences at The School:
Our programs embrace the skills, standards and values of The New York Times.
Every day, readers turn to The Times for credible reports and insights on important events and underlying issues. Our programs are designed to help students confront and engage with these issues head-on to develop an in-depth understanding of how headlines emerge, how stories are told and how history is made.
Our curricula are infused with current events and emphasize that facts matter.
It’s a truism to say that the flow of accurate, meaningful news is essential to democracy. But equally important to an informed citizenry is the ever-growing reservoir of ideas and critical concepts to be explored and passed along from teacher to student. It is this emphasis on open dialogue, truth and accuracy that informs every aspect of our curriculum development.
Our diverse student body promotes a wide range of views, which is crucial to uncovering the truth.
We believe that diversity in all its forms – in opinions and ideas, in cultures and countries, as well as in the races, religions, sexual orientations and backgrounds of our students – is integral to education. Through financial aid and scholarships, our community is able to grow more diverse every day. Our culture of diversity, equity and inclusion enriches the learning process and is a driver for new ideas, creativity and academic excellence.
Our programs are designed to open new possibilities and broaden horizons for students.
The School was created to provide students with inspiring experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. Students have the opportunity to study with Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists, meet visionary entrepreneurs and peek behind the scenes at major organizations across a wide range of industries. Our hope is for all students who attend The School to emerge with newfound purpose and excitement about their future.
